Over the weekend I visited this ( http://bit.ly/20fyEw ), a Grateful Dead exhibit in NYC. I would like to start first by saying: WOW! The exhibit was amazing! Thank you University of California Santa Cruz for providing such amazing materials.
I have been listening to the Dead for a greater portion of my life. I was not old enough to experience the phenomenon of the acid tests or traveling around with the Dead, but the culture has always influenced me to be a creative individual that exists peacefully among the living.
After viewing some of the rare materials at the NYC exhibit, it made me realize that what the Dead were doing from the 60’s to the 90’s was revolutionary. The way they treated the individual fan, the live show, the art and the people who associated themselves with the dead - it was no joke! The Dead is a community of inspired people. I found a lot of comparisons between what we do at Threadless and what the Dead were doing, community-wise. I tip my hat to them. I wish powerful lyrics and the ability to think freely still existed and not the popularity/money contest that has become the music industry. Maybe I should give up my ambition of being Dead and become a Juggalo instead. Jerry said it best, “The Grass ain’t greener the wine ain’t sweeter either side of the hill”

Prizzy Prizzy Please exploded like a star wars supernova onto the multi-hued stage at Indy’s Radio Radio. Their decidedly geeky brand of dance-inducing arena-punk madness was kept tight and raw by singer/saxophonist Mark Pallman’s rhythmic, throat-straining delivery. And keyboardist Ted Wells does the best impression of a face-melting guitar phenom on his first space-walk that we’ve ever encountered.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out Prizzy Prizzy Please live, do it. Your dancing shoes will thank you.
